Alistair Deane has always taken a keen interest in art and while still at school in Edinburgh had a painting hung at the annual exhibition of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours.

It was only after his retirement that his passion for painting was rekindled.

Compared to watercolours, Alistair finds acrylics very strong and direct, sometimes using a pallet knife or even a domestic paintbrush to create the mark making that gives his paintings their atmosphere and sense of movement and action.
